The Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates salutes with joy and gratitude the members, staff and Board of Trustees of the Medical Action Group as it conducts its 20th General Assembly and celebrates its 30th Anniversary. PAHRA heartily congratulates each and everyone who contributed, great and small, for developing and carrying through what MAG is up to this Anniversary.

PAHRA acknowledges again the inspiration and the concomitant courage drawn from the health professionals who served and empowered the poor, the vulnerable and the marginalized even during the repressive years of martial law (imposed 40 years ago) even, for not a few, with their lives. It was during that challenging period that the Medical Action Group was established as a determined response to ensure our people's enjoyment of the right to health as an integral component of our struggle to uphold human dignity.

As the Alliance was formed in August 1986, MAG was and is a foremost member in defending intensely and advancing progressively human rights in a collective capacity with all the other members and partners of PAHRA to end impunity.

At this juncture of our country's history, the Alliance calls on the Medical Action Group to enhance its personnel and organizational capacities:

  • to assist the impoverished and the oppressed to be empowered in asserting their right to health and making it as a platform of governance in the 2013 elections;

  • to converge with the efforts of other members of the Alliance to form territorial formations of human rights defenders to monitor government' human rights compliance and

  • to hold accountable all those who have violated the people's right to health and all its underlying determinants.

MABUHAY ANG MEDICAL ACTION GROUP! ITAGUYOD AT IPAGLABAN ANG ATING KARAPATANG PANTAO SA KALUSUGAN!

WRITE 30 TO IMPUNITY!
